Early manifestation of Dale's fascination with media creations and "heroes"; he refuses to believe that Flash is "just a TV actor" (his mind is very susceptible to "cartoony" impressions of what makes a "hero" or a "villain") but is finally let down, disillusioned.

Also early manifestation of Fat Cat's true obsession - his hatred of dogs (later carried to absurd heights) and willingness to do just about anything to humiliate them or rid himself of their presence.

Flash the opposite kind of personality from another DTV ersatz hero - Major Courage.  He is mild mannered, self-effacing, likable - we root for him to come out on top, unlike MC.

(??) First appearance of the Ranger Plane.

Humans a bit different than in most eps.  More realistic in look (at least the TV people), also more cynically depicted - hypercritical of Flash, they turn on him when it seems he has turned to crime, then suck up to him when it's all over (cf. Director).

[Humans also denser than in most episodes. Can't tell the difference between a German Shepherd (I believe that was Flash's pedigree) and a gray tabby. Sheesh. - MP]
